A man has been assaulted in Hartlepool this evening, police have said.
Cleveland Police was contacted by the Ambulance Service follow reports that a man had been injured in Rugby Street in the town.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, with officers asking for any witnesses to contact them if they have seen anything regarding the incident.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "Police are currently in the Rubgy Street area of Hartlepool after being contacted by ambulance service colleagues at around 7.30pm this evening.
"They had attended the area following reports that a man had been assaulted and injured.
"The man’s injuries are not currently believed to be life threatening and officers remain on scene to conduct inquiries into the circumstances behind this incident.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 in confidence.
