A MAN was taken to hospital with head injuries after falling from a roof.
Firefighters had originally got a call that there was someone on top of a house in Duke Street, Hartlepool.
But when they arrived at 11.32am yesterday he had fallen into a back yard and was said to have banged his head and was briefly unconscious.
Police and paramedics arrived minutes later and the 45-year-old man was treated at the scene before being taken in an ambulance to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.
A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “A man had fallen off a roof and had suffered head injuries. He was conscious when paramedics arrived.
“He was given treatment at the scene before he was taken to hospital.”
A spokesman for Stranton Fire Station said: “We gave him oxygen before paramedics arrived.”
It is not clear what the man was doing on the roof before he fell.
