ARMED police swooped on a residential street after reports that a man was in possession of a knife.
Police were called to Seaton Lane following an earlier incident at the Tees Bay Retail Park, in Brenda Road, Hartlepool, where retail staff had reported a man with a knife leaving in a vehicle.
The force helicopter and uniformed police were also called to help search the surrounding area this afternoon.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “A 45-year-old Hartlepool man was arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident at the Tees Bay Retail Park, in Brenda Road.
“Police were called at around 2.45pm by retail staff who reported that a man was in possession of a knife and had left the scene in a vehicle.
“Numerous officers, including air support, the armed response unit and response teams searched the area and quickly located a man at an address in Seaton Lane.
“No-one was injured during the incident.”
A 45-year-old-man was due to be questioned later today by police.
