A MAN has appeared in court charged with two assaults – one which left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

Keith Ronald Anderson appeared in custody at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and causing grievous bodily harm on July 27.

The alleged offences the 27-year-old is accused of are said to relate to an attack on a 26-year-old man who is fighting for his life in hospital with serious head injuries.

He remains in a critical condition in James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after being attacked at around 4.20am on Sunday at a bus stop near Yates’ wine lodge, in Victoria Road.

The second alleged offence is said to relate to an assault on a 24-year-old man near The Grand Hotel who suffered serious facial injuries.

He received treatment at James Cook University Hospital before being released.

Town justices adjourned the case to be heard at Teesside Crown Court on August 15.

Anderson, of Throston Grange Lane, Hartlepool, was remanded in custody until that time.
