A man is fighting for his life after suffering a suspected heart attack in the street.

Emergency services were sparked into action after the 30-year-old collapsed in a street in Billingham at 2.15pm today.

The Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA0 was drafted in by the North East Ambulance Service to provide treatment to the man at the scene.

The man continued to receive medical treatment from a doctor-led team while he was transported to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, hospital by road.

His condition is described as critical.
