THE body of a man has been found in woods.
The man was discovered in Low Swainston Woods, Wynyard, by two men who were walking in the area.
Durham Police have just released details of the discovery, which happened on Sunday afternoon.
They believe the body is that of Brian Namagowa, 31.
The body, which has yet to be formally identified, is thought to have been in the woods for some time.
Officers have now launched an investigation into the death, which they say is not suspicious, and are appealing for anyone who knows anything about Mr Namagowa, whose last known address was in Middlesbrough, to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Callan, of Durham Police, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen Brian Namagowa prior to November 2010.
“We’d like to know where he has been living in recent years, details about anyone he might have spent time with and would be keen to receive any information that might help us trace his movements during this time.
“I would ask anyone who has information that might help with our inquiries to contact us as soon as possible.”
The coroner has been informed and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
Anyone who can help should contact Durham Police’s non-emergency number 101.
