Man’s jaw broken in incident outside pub

A MAN had his jaw broken after being allegedly assaulted outside a busy pub.

Hartlepool Police are appealing for witnesses following the alleged assault on the 29-year-old, which happened outside of the Cosmopolitan Public House, on the corner of Durham Street, on the Headland.

The assault happened on the weekend of the Headland Carnival but the details have only just been released.

Detectives say it happened at around 10.30pm on Saturday, August 10 when the man was assaulted and his jaw was broken.

He had to undergo an operation to insert metal plates into his jaw.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
