Man shot in street attack

A MAN has been shot in broad daylight with a ball-bearing gun.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance inside Barbara’s General Dealers, in Warren Road, Hartlepool, at around 1.20pm today after a dispute between two men.

Moments earlier the same men had been in nearby Bruce Crescent when a 31-year-old man suffered what are said to be minor, none life-threatening wounds to his chest from a BB gun.

A member of the public alerted police and the injured man was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A 17-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray. Both are currently in police custody.

The road was closed at Winterbottom Avenue and Warren Road while the incident was ongoing.
