Man suffers fractured jaw and broken cheekbone in Hartlepool assault

A man was assaulted by a group of men while walking near Hartlepool's sea front.

The 48-year-old victim was assaulted whilst walking along the promenade area on Marina Drive in Hartlepool.

The incident occurred on Friday, June 10, at around 7:30pm when the victim noticed a group of five men, one of whom asked him for a cigarette.

A short conversation took place and the victim told the male that he didn’t smoke.

The man then punched the victim in the face several times, causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim was then assaulted by several of the males whilst on the floor and then they all made off from the scene.

The victim was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he was treated for a fractured jaw, broken eye socket and broken cheekbone.

One of the suspects is described as a white male, around 18-19-years-old, around 6 ft 1” tall and of slim build with dark hair.

He was wearing a white T-shirt with the Adidas on the front in blue and dark tracksuit bottoms.
