Masterplan waits for council date

SUPPORTERS of ambitious £35m redevelopment plans for a Hartlepool neighbourhood are still waiting to hear when councillors will debate the plans.

The Mill House Masterplan, which proposes a series of new business, leisure, housing and sports developments for the Mill House area of town.

It had originally been due to go to Hartlepool Borough Council’s full council for discussion on June 28, but was postponed when members requested more information.

A series of public meetings with residents, preferred developers Gus Robinson Developments and Hartlepool United Football Club have been arranged by the Mill House Area Action Group.

The plan will also discuss a possible transfer of Victoria Park from the council to the club.

The action group, made up of Pools supporters, Mill House residents and other interested parties is waiting to hear when it will go to the council.

Secretary Phil Thompson said: “While this means the decision will be delayed our support for it has not gone away.

“We see it as a sign that the Mill House Masterplan is getting the due consideration such an ambitious development for the whole of Hartlepool merits.”
