POLICE are appealing for information after a man needed hospital treatment for head and facial injuries.

A member of the public found the 55-year-old man in York Road, Hartlepool at around 12.15am on Saturday, February 28.

The victim had been seen speaking with people inside a silver Vauxhall Vectra before it drove away, leaving him behind.

He was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, for treatment to a cut to the back of his head and a graze to his nose.

Medics released him later that morning.

Police know the victim was wearing a luminous yellow jacket so people may have noticed him in the area.

Officers would like to speak to the driver or passenger of the Vectra and anyone else who may have information on how the man sustained his injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Holly Angus, at Cleveland Police, on the non-emergency number 101.
