A WOMAN is hoping a language expert can help translate a message her son found in a bottle while dog-walking at Seaton Carew.
Jackie Russell’s son Craig Doyle, 43, and his wife, Louise, were out walking on the beach by the dunes at the Blue Lagoon when they spotted that a wine bottle with something in it had washed up.
They took it home to Jackie’s house, in Owton Manor Lane, and discovered a laminated letter, featuring a picture of a man looking out to sea on one side.
Retired Jackie, who is also mum to Leeza Laverick, thinks it could feature the man’s life story and his ashes may have been scattered at sea.
She said: “It’s either in Swedish or Dutch, I presume. There is a cross saying January 11, 1948 and another saying February 10, 2012, presumably the date he died.
“There are also two circles entwined which say 40 Jar, I think this could mean 40 years married.” Jackie is appealing for anyone who knows Swedish or Dutch, or anyone else who could help translate the letter to call her on 07757 860240.
