THE threatened rail strike set to cause a headache for Middlesbrough fans has been averted.

Unions the RMT and TSSA have now accepted a new pay offer from Network Rail.

The strike had been due to cause a travel nightmare for thousands across the region, including those travelling to Wembley to see Middlesbrough take on Norwich in the play-offs.
