POLICE have thanked the public and media for their help in tracing a vulnerable pensioner.
Cynthia Hughes, 72, from Hartlepool, had not been seen since leaving a property in the town’s Stokesley Road around 9am on Friday.
Police and her family were concerned as she was described as vulnerable due to medication she takes.
She was spotted on security cameras getting off the number 1 bus in Middlesbrough around 9.40am on Friday.
But around 10 hours later, at 7.45pm and after public appeals, Cynthia was found safe and well by a Cleveland Police officer in Union Street, in Middlesbrough town centre.
A grateful Inspector Mick Brown, of Hartlepool Police, said: “It’s imperative that we and the local community do all we can to help locate vulnerable people as soon as possible.”
