Missing person inquiry now a murder investigation as three men arrested

Three men have been arrested this morning over the disappearance of a man who went missing four years ago.

The disappearance of Scott Fletcher, from Hartlepool, is now being treated as a murder inquiry by Cleveland Police.

The men, aged 36, 38 and 48, and all from County Durham, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

They remain in police custody.

Scott was 28 when he went missing on May 11, 2011.

He was last seen at about 8.20pm near the Jet garage on the A181 at Wheatley Hill, Durham.

Det Supt Jon Green said: “As a result of the ongoing investigation, the disappearance of Scott Fletcher is now being treated as a murder inquiry, however, a body has not yet been located.

“Scott was reportedly last seen on May 11, 2011 at around 8.20pm near to the Jet garage on the A181 at Wheatley Hill in Durham.

“Anyone with information regarding Scott’s disappearance or anyone who may have seen him is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org.”
