Hundreds of model rail fans, of all ages, attended the event which was held on Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend was hailed a great success by organisers with plenty going on for everyone from dedicated enthusiasts to casual visitors.

As well as the dozens of top layouts there was also scores of trade stalls for enthusiasts to browse.

Organisers had to move furniture to make room for all of the detailed layouts.

Gary Kester, the college’s creative director, said: “One recurring comment was how much the exhibitors enjoyed how light the college is, so their handiwork could be showed off properly.”

Proceeds from the weekend will go to Hartlepool Families First charity and the town’s RNLI lifeboat service.
