POLICE have released further details of a man whose body was found under a bridge.
Detectives at Peterlee CID say the body discovered by a group of walkers under a bridge above the A1086 Coast Road between Horden and Blackhall was that of a 37-year-old man from Peterlee.
Acting Detective Sergeant Andy Reynolds, of Peterlee CID, said: “He was a local male from the Peterlee area.
“His family have been informed.”
A formal identification had not yet been carried out yesterday and police were not in a position to give further details.
The body was found around 1.15pm on Tuesday, as reported in yesterday’s Mail.
An area was cordoned off at an underpass close to Horden’s Cotsford Park Estate.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
