A motorcyclist and pillion passenger killed in crash near Yarm on Saturday have been named by police

Gary Robert Hoare, 47, and 51 -year-old Gayle Evans – both from Billingham – died in a collision with car on the B1264. An inquest into their deaths has opened and adjourned to later date.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at about 12.40pm, around one-and-a-half miles south of Low Worsall.

A blue and white Suzuki motorbike, which was travelling from Yarm towards Great Smeaton, collided with a blue Ford Focus travelling in the opposite direction.

The two victims were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 37-year-old man from Middlesbrough, suffered minor injuries in the collision. He was treated at James Cook Hospital before being discharged.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to contact them with information.
