CARE home residents proved you are never too old for love during a Valentine’s-themed event.
Yohden Lodge care home, which is part of the Yohden Care Complex, in Blackhall, held an afternoon cream tea to celebrate the day of love.
Residents’ families were invited into the home, in Hesleden Road, and men gave their wives roses while women presented their husbands with chocolates.
The home was decorated with hearts and complex manager Maureen Garrett made heart-shaped scones with cream and jam.
A raffle was also held and champagne handed out as part of the Cupid-themed celebrations.
Unit manager Michelle Howarth said: “It was a lovely atmosphere and we proved that love doesn’t have to end when you’re older, it keeps on going.
“It was a really romantic day and love was in the air.”
Also on the day, Yohden Hall, which is part of the complex, held a cheese and wine evening with entertainment.
