FAMILIES and carers with young children are invited to join a new group to help them enjoy some gentle exercise together.
Stranton Children’s Centre, in Hartlepool, is launching a new session called Prambles for parents with children under five.
Group leaders say the new initiative is perfect for family members who can not find the time to exercise and want to learn about healthy eating or lose weight.
Fiona Marshall-Bell, a community involvement worker for Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “The sessions are all about getting out and about with your children and enjoying a walk to the local park or surrounding areas.
“Our health trainer will be on hand to talk to parents about healthy lifestyles, dieting and exercise.”
Prambles launches at Stranton Children’s Centre, Southburn Terrace, Hartlepool, on Friday, July 22. The first walk will be lead by trained staff with help from volunteers.
The programme is working in partnership with sports development, children’s centres and community health trainers.
Walks will take place from 11am to noon followed by advice from the health trainer from noon to 1pm.
The programme is set to run for eight weeks.
