VILLAGE residents can get themselves into shape and sign up for a new fitness class.
A new pilates session has been launched in Elwick WI Hall, starting next week.
With the children going back to school this week, it is hoped the morning session will appeal to mums who have time to spare and want to step up their fitness.
Full time pilates fitness instructor Sarah Best, 40, who has launched the session, described it as “pilates with a fitness twist” and said she can’t wait to get started.
Sarah, a single mum of Sonny, 10, who lives in South Hetton, said: “There aren’t that many daytime classes out there so I am hoping this will be a success.
“The session will involve some nice uplifting music and offers something a bit different.
“It’s a chance for people to come along and get into shape but the main thing is it’s good fun.
“I’m sure people will enjoy it.”
The session is aimed at men and women of all ages and all abilities and starts next Monday, September 12, from 10am-11am.
It will then take place every Monday morning at that time.
“I advertised the session in the village and have already have a couple of phone calls from people asking me about the session,” added Sarah.
“I’m hoping it does prove popular.
“Pilates is really enjoyable and as well as that it’s an education.”
Norma Metcalfe, president of the Elwick WI, said she was delighted that a new class was starting in the hall.
She said: “We enjoy all sorts of different classes coming along and using the hall whether it is people from Elwick or outside of Elwick.
“The hall is looking very good at the minute and we have just had some new curtains put up.
“It’s a fantastic venue.”
