RISING Hartlepool artists are to get a new space to show off their talents.
A new experimental exhibition and performance space is opening in Hartlepool Art Gallery to promote up-coming artists in the town.
Gallery bosses say the platform called Emerge Gallery will help new talent to gain a foothold in the cultural and creative industries by giving them a chance to show their work to the public.
It will launch with an exhibition by 17-year-old Hartlepool photographer Harriet Auton.
David Worthington, Hartlepool Borough Council’s cultural services manager, said: “This is an exciting development for us in Hartlepool.
“We are all aware of how difficult things are at the moment, especially for creative talent. This project will provide opportunities for people who want to develop as artists, and who knows – we may discover one of the cultural stars of tomorrow.”
Harriet’s exhibition will run from Friday, July 8, to Saturday, August 20.
She has had a love of photography for as long as she can remember and her photos are described as interesting, colourful and dynamic.
Her pictures are said to carry a clear and simple message to remind the world what a beautiful place it is.
Hartlepool Art Gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am-5pm and admission is free.
