A SKATE park is proving popular with youngsters ahead of its official launch.
The Clavering skate park, off Easington Road, in Hartlepool, will be officially launched later this month and it is already proving popular with youngsters.
It is part of the Clavering Park Masterplan and will see new fencing, trees, paths and a wetland area built in a bid to breathe new life into the park.
Labour councillor Paul Beck, who represents the Hart Ward, has moved to thank all those groups and organisations who helped make the skate park possible.
It will be officially opened on Tuesday, October 29, between 1pm and 3pm.
The skate park in Clavering has been backed by Groundwork North East, Hartlepool Borough Council, North Linear Park Steering Group and Clavering Residents’ Association.
Coun Beck said: “As one of the Hart Ward councillors I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Linear Park Group, Groundwork North East and all the young people who voted on their mobiles and online every day to win the extra funding from BRITVIC.
“This is a credit to our young people who all too often get bad undeserved criticism.
“For them to achieve their aspirations in life we need to be supporting them at every opportunity.
“The official opening will take place on October 29 and there will be skate demonstrations, best trick competitions, face painting, a bouncy castle and refreshments plus fun for all the family.
“It would be great for people to come along and show their appreciation for all the hard work that has gone into this project.”
