HARTLEPOOL’S newest sporting venue is hoping to help a town boxer add to her impressive medal collection by giving her a membership of the hi-tech facilities.

Savannah Marshall, Hartlepool’s World and European champion, is now an honorary member of the Horizone gym at The Sports Domes, in Seaton Carew.

The Olympian took up the offer made by Sports Domes boss Brian Morton.

He said: “We are creating a world class sports and leisure facility in Hartlepool and I feel it is fitting to offer an honorary membership to Hartlepool’s World Champion.

“I am personally delighted to be able to support Savannah as she looks to win more titles and it will be fantastic to see her using the facilities at The Sports Domes.

“As the reputation of our venue grows, I would love to host some of her fights here one day.”

Savannah, from the Dyke House area of Hartlepool, was crowned as World Champion in May 2012 and also scooped the European Union title in Hungary recently.

She is now turning her attentions to the Olympics in Brazil in three years.

Savannah, 22, said: “I’d like to thank Brian and The Sports Domes for their generous offer.

“Horizone is one of the best gym facilities around and I am looking forward to using it when I get a chance.”
