A SENIOR councillor was on hand to reopen a town centre store which has had a make-over.
The Wilkinson store in Castle Dene Shopping Centre, Peterlee, re-opened with help from the Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor John Hardy.
“It was a treat to be invited along to help re-launch one of the most popular retailers in the town; I think the store looks great”, said Coun Hardy, who was also presented with a cheque from Sharon Short, Wilkinson’s store manager, towards his Mayor’s Charity Fund, which supports Help For Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Relief and Hartlepool & District Hospice.
Mrs Short said: “I would like to thank the Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor John Hardy for coming along and helping us with the re-opening.
“We are proud to be able to make a donation to the Mayor’s Charity Fund, which benefits three really worthy causes within in the local community.”
She added: “The whole re-brand process has been a real team effort, the store has never looked so good and this is a testament to all the hard work we have all put in to get to this point today.”
