A TOWN primary school has set up a new parent teacher group and held a competition for youngsters to design the logo.

Owton Manor Primary School, in Eskdale Road, Hartlepool, has set up a parent representative group called PACT which stands for Parents And Children & Teachers.

In order to create a new logo for the group, a competition was held in school recently with all the children encouraged to have a go.

The winning design came from Year 3 pupil Lucy Archer and her logo is now proudly on display on the PACT T-shirts.

The newly-established group is made up of parents, grandparents and school staff and they meet every Friday morning.

So far they have arranged a number of school discos and school fairs.

Rachel Wainwright, of Owton Manor Primary School, said: “Owton Manor Primary School has set up a parent representative group called PACT, which stands for Parents And Children & Teachers.

“We held a competition in school recently and the children had to design a logo for the new parent group.

“Lucy Archer in Year 3 was the winner and her logo is now on the PACT T-shirts.

“Our new parent group is made up of Mams, Dads, grandparents and school staff and we meet every Friday morning.

“Some of the things that we have organised so far include three discos and two school fairs.”

Meanwhile, the school is also currently raising money for a new stage in the school hall.
