You’re coming to visit but don’t fancy a hotel – don’t worry, there are still plenty of places to stay!

The countdown to the weekend has begun.

And if you’re visiting our North East, you have an awful lot to look forward to!

But the problem: you’ve left it a little bit late and the hotel prices are now too high.

You might fancy having a house to yourself for a few nights, or just need a comfortable bed to collapse into after a long day of North East sightseeing.

Whatever you’re in the market for, there are more than 100 rentals available for the area on Airbnb – and here we’ve taken our pick at only some of them.

Prices range from between £21, for bedroom rentals, and £300 for whole properties in the area. We took a look at prices and locations for this weekend, checking in on Friday (October 16) and checking out on Sunday (October 18).

Shared rooms

”Quirky mid terrace” in Washington. At £46 per night, this room is available for between one and three guests – with the property only a short drive from both Sunderland and Newcastle. Private rooms

”Large double room” in Sunderland. At only £30 a night for two nights, this property is a stone’s throw away from the nearest Metro station – the perfect place for your weekend away. The host and accommodation have scored highly with the Air BnB community, rated as 4.7 stars. One reviewer said: “Terri was a brilliant host. She made me feel at home and very welcoming. ”Room between the sea and the city” in Hebburn. This host offers either a single (£20 per night) or twin (£25) for your convenience.
