A SHOPPING centre boss who was arrested after an allegation of theft will face no action, police have confirmed.

Mike Weston, centre manager of the Castle Dene complex in Peterlee, was arrested last month after it was claimed cash had been stolen.

He was questioned and rebailed to a date early next month. However, Durham Constabulary have now confirmed no further action will be taken.

Mr Weston, 63, from the Trimdon area, is believed to have begun working at the centre in 2002.

Current owner Salford Estates suspended Mr Weston after the allegation was made.

The firm confirmed he will not be returning to his post.
