AN OFFSHORE construction firm has renewed its support for a hospice.

Heerema is backing Hartlepool & District Hospice through its Guild of Patrons.

Heerema joined the Guild in August 2009 and has not only guaranteed the annual £5,000 subscription, but helped the hospice through events and projects.

The company was the major sponsor of a sportsman’s dinner featuring former Newcastle, Arsenal and England player Malcolm MacDonald in March 2012. It raised nearly £10,000 for patient care.

It has also donated television sets for each of the ten in-patient bedrooms, and attended hospice golf days.

Hospice corporate fundraiser Carol Sennett said: “The support we receive from Heerema is amazing. This kind of continued support really does make a difference. Having this guaranteed income will go a long way in helping sustain the vital services we provide to the local communities of Hartlepool and East Durham.”

Heerema HR manager, Sandra Groom said: “We are delighted to be able to continue to work with Hartlepool & District Hospice. The staff and volunteers are wonderful and the care they give to patients, their families and loved ones at such a difficult time makes it a local charity worth our support.”
