ORGANISERS of village Diamond Jubilee celebrations have praised residents for their “amazing” turnout and thanked businesses for their support.

Hart Village residents enjoyed four days of fun to mark the momentous occasion last week.

A church service, lantern parade, lunch in the village and a disco and fancy dress for the youngsters were all held across Jubilee weekend.

A 1940s-themed variety show proved that popular tickets sold out before the weekend celebrations got under way.

Nicola Coulter, a member of the village’s Jubilee committee, said: “It was an absolutely fabulous weekend.

“The turnout was amazing, the village came together, it was absolutely fantastic.

“Every aspect of the weekend went exactly to plan, it was brilliant.”

Nicola said around 200 people turned out for the firework display on the Monday night to complete the weekend of activities and events.

The mum of two, who lives in the village, added: “Our lunch and fun day on the Sunday was brilliant as well. All the kids enjoyed it and there was so much going on for them.”

On behalf of everyone in the village, Nicola thanked Charles Dickens DIY store, in Tower Street, Camerons Brewery and Seaton Decorators, based in Courageous Close, Seaton Carew.

The three companies were the main sponsors of the weekend’s activities and Nicola said the celebrations wouldn’t have been possible without their support.

She added: “I would like to say a big thank you to everybody who came and got involved, all our sponsors and all of the committee members and helpers who made it such a success.

“It was a lovely, lovely weekend.

“We are already planning our next event in the village to mark the Olympics.”
