TRANSPORT chiefs have shown their caring side after donating money to buy poppies for its employees.
Around 100 staff at Stagecoach North East’s Hartlepool depot, in Brenda Road, are set to receive a poppy to support this year’s Poppy Appeal.
It is part of a region-wide charity effort by the company which has seen bosses donate £1,400 to provide the emblems for each of its employees at its six North East depots.
Managing director Phil Medlicott said: “The Poppy Appeal is such a worthwhile cause and we’re proud to be able to show our support again this year by supplying a poppy for each member of staff to proudly wear across the North-East.
“The Poppy Appeal is just one of a large number of charities we support each year through various employee fundraising activities and donations.”
The Poppy Appeal is a nationwide campaign which raises money for The Royal British Legion and the work it does for the Armed Forces community.
Last year’s appeal raised a staggering £40m, breaking all previous records.
