KIND-HEARTED bikers rode to the aid of rescue dogs after a successful food appeal.
Hartlepool’s Misfits bike club appealed to the community and businesses for help and were overwhelmed with the response.
Supporters dug deep and donated piles of food for the appeal.
The Misfits and other local biking gangs saddled up to collect all the donations for the Dogs Trust in Sadberge near Darlington.
One of their biggest donations came from Hartlepool store Pets at Home.
Around 50 bikers helped collect donations from Hartlepool, Billingham and Stockton including members of the Tees Riders.
Misfits member Mark Atkinson said: “We had one of our biggest responses yet and the Dogs Trust were over the moon.
“We collected a massive trolley full of food piled high.
“We have been doing it since 1992. A lot of us have got dogs from the rescue centre.
“It is very difficult with everybody feeling the pinch.
“When that happens the first thing people get rid of is pets ad the Dogs Trust feed and house them.
“It is nice to be able to give something back to the community.”
The Misfits have raised over £100,000 for different charities and good causes.
