Pensioner airlifted to hospital

A PENSIONER was airlifted to hospital after being found collapsed in the street.

The 87-year-old woman, from Blackhall Rocks, was airlifted by the Great North Air Ambulance to Newcastle RVI, but is now in a stable condition.

The pensioner was found in Shincliffe, on the outskirts of Durham City, just before 1pm yesterday.

A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said: “The service was called to assist an elderly lady who was found in a collapsed condition.

“She was treated at the scene by the air ambulance doctor before being flown to the RVI.

“She is now in a stable condition and we wish her a speedy recovery.”
