Pensioner attacked by dog

A PENSIONER was suffered what police described as a “serious injury” to his leg after being attacked by a dog.

Police are appealing for information after a 73-year-old man was bitten by a dog while walking along Hazel Grove, towards Easington Road, in Hartlepool.

The dog had come out of an alleyway in Hazel Grove and bit him on the leg.

The victim believes he heard someone shout something and the dog then ran away.

Police say the man managed to get home to contact an ambulance and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton where he was treated for a serious injury to his leg.

The attack happened just after 9pm yesterday.
