Children from across town are expected to flock to the event which marks the start of the festive season in the complex.

There will be exciting appearances from Peppa and George at 11am, before Santa’s arrival at the centre at noon.

Old St Nick will make his way through the centre and into his grotto where he will proceed to have visits from ecstatic youngsters who he will ask what they would like to see under the tree on Christmas Day this year.

The piggy television characters will then return at 4pm for a final meet and greet of Hartlepool’s youngest folk.

Mark Rycraft, shopping centre manager, said as well as the children’s favourite, there will be a visit from members of charitable group Hartlepool Round Table.

Mark said: “We are looking forward to welcoming these very popular characters to the centre. They are joining us as we celebrate the start of Christmas at the centre.

“Father Christmas and the Round Table will also be joining us.”

Santa’s grotto will then be open on Thursday’s, Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s and then every day from the December 19 to Christmas Eve. Opening times are 10.30am to 4.30pm. A visit to Santa is £3.
