AWARD-WINNING NHS primary care service provider IntraHealth is proving just the tonic for its patients.

One customer got more than was on his prescription when he turned up for his tablets.

The medical company, which runs GP practices at Hartfields and Wynyard Road in Hartlepool, and picked up a string of accolades at the last Hartlepool Mail Best of Health Awards, has extended the opening hours of the in-house pharmacy at its headquarters and medical centre in Peterlee.

The pharmacy, at the William Brown Centre is now open from 7am-10.30pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-4pm on Sundays.

Customer Michael Turner was given a hamper of healthy food after attending the pharmacy on the extended-hours opening day.

He said “Having the pharmacy situated within the surgery is very convenient for me.

“I can drop off my repeat prescription, see the doctor and then pick up my medication on the way out.

“The longer opening hours are ideal for people working out of town”.

Pharmacy Manager Paul Arnett said “The new pharmacy is an expansion of IntraHealth’s services in Peterlee and gives patients the benefit of added choice and variety of services.

“We will not only be delivering the traditional pharmacy model but looking to develop new ways of meeting patients’ needs.

“I am extremely proud of the pharmacy team”.
