THESE are deserving winners of the Hartlepool Mail’s Santa Paws competition.
Town teenager Rachel Lee’s cute team of 10 guinea pigs Tink, Snowy, Cherry, Angel, Rosy, Smudge, Willow, Skittles, Misty and Chocolate proved to have the cute factor for our judges.
After weeks of festive readers sending in some excellent snaps of their adorable pets wearing Christmas outfits, it was the Lee guinea pigs’ 40 paws which were clapping in the end after the Mail’s judges crowned them winners.
The 16-year-old former Dyke House Sports and Technology College pupil says she entered her lovable pets into the contest as this could be Tink and Snowy’s last Christmas due to their age.
So Rachel and her mum Karen Lee, of Percy Street, Hartlepool, dressed them and the rest of “the girls” in matching Santa hats and lined them all up for a snap which they sent in to the Mail.
Delighted Rachel, who has bagged herself a £50 voucher to spend in the town’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, was shocked but happy to be told the news.
She said: “I can’t believe it because all the other entries were so good! It’s really good.
“I don’t know what I’ll spend the money on yet, but I’ll probably get something for the guinea pigs like some Wag food.”
Rachel, who also lives with her brother Thomas Lee, 14, added: “The picture of them was really cute. Me and my mam lined them up and then while I took the picture my mam stood behind me and clapped her hands so that they all looked and stood still.
“We decided to put them in for the competition because two of them are getting old now so it might be their last Christmas. I’m glad we did now.”
