Police appeal after sickening vandalism and theft from grave in Hartlepool cemetery

Police have launched an appeal after a grave was vandalised and sentimental items stolen from a Hartlepool cemetery.

The grave, in the north west corner of Stranton Cemetery, Brierton Lane, was targeted between 3pm on Thursday and 4pm yesterday.

Cleveland Police said a fence around the grave was deliberately damaged, and lights and ornaments of sentimental value were stolen from the same plot.

Officers are asking anyone with information to call Pc Marie Owen of Cleveland Police on 101.
