Police appeal for witnesses to A19 smash

POLICE are appealing for information after a collision on the A19.

A Peugeot 206 was travelling northbound near Elwick, on the outskirts of Hartlepool, when it collided with a lamp-post before the vehicle left the road and came to rest in a field.

The 18-year-old woman driver suffered cuts to the back of her head and right ear, as well as whiplash.

A 19-year-old woman passenger fractured three knuckles on her right hand and was taken to the same hospital.

Both were taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton, and treated before being discharged.

A second passenger, a 20-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries including back pain.
