A POLICE band is celebrating 40 years of entertaining the community by joining forces with the Royal British Legion.

A musical extravaganza is being held by the Cleveland Police Band to mark its anniversary and also pay tribute to soldiers who have died in present and past wars.

The concert, at the Baptist Tabarnacle, in The Avenue, Stockton, which starts at 7.30pm on Friday, October 14, coincides with the launch of the band’s Brass Factor competition, which hopes to find new musicians for the band.

The force wants to hear from anyone who plays trombone, e-flat horn, euphonium, cornet or any other instrument from the brass family, or drum corps or percussion for a brass band.

Those selected will be invited to audition at 6.30pm on Wednesday, November 23, at Police Headquarters, in Ladgate Lane, Middlesbrough.

Tickets, priced at £6 and £5 for concessions, are available by contacting Cliff and Liz Hunt on (01642) 769680 or Dot Robinson on 07786322862.
