POLICE are seeking community-minded teenagers to sign up as cadets.
The Cleveland Police Cadet Programme is currently recruiting new cadets in Hartlepool, Stockton, Middlesbrough and Redcar.
Any youngster aged between 13 and 17 can apply to take one of the 25 cadet places for each district.
The groups are run by police officers, police community support officers, youth workers and volunteers and meet weekly.
Georgina Swanson, Cleveland Police cadet programme coordinator, said: “Cadets carry out regular community volunteering and get involved in a range of activities and projects; they recently produced a youth version of the Policing Plan and also river-mapped the River Tees for the emergency services.
The programme fosters a sense of responsibility for the communities in which they live, as well as a broader understanding of operational policing.”
The scheme’s aim is to give teenagers the chance to develop life skills while getting involved at the heart of their local communities and making new friends.
Any budding cadets who would like to apply for the programme should email their full name, address, date of birth and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0845 2713872.
