POLICE have vowed to corner crooks using the roads during a week-long crackdown.

Officers used automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras to spot and stop vehicles during the second day of Operation Tornado.

Drivers were spoken to, searched and their vehicles checked over during yesterday’s session that saw three marked cars out patrolling the roads in Hartlepool.

Operation Tornado is a week-long programme that started on Monday to show the various tactics used by the Cleveland force.
