A POLICE football team is looking for new teams to play against.
Durham Police set up an over-40s team in 2004 to give “veteran” officers and staff the chance to play matches.
But with teams dwindling, the force is playing several matches against the same opposition and is keen to compete against some fresh faces.
Detective Chief Inspector Brad Howe, the team’s fixtures secretary, said: “We have tended to play the same sides on quite a few times and while those links will be maintained, it would be good to play different opponents.”
Regular opponents have included Durham University, workingmen’s clubs and Northumbrian Water.
They can play any team from the Durham force area, home or away, on Saturday and Sunday mornings, with occasional midweek games also arranged.
Any teams interested can contact Det Chief Insp Howe on (0345) 6060365.
