POLICE have launched an investigation after the body of a man was discovered at a house in Hartlepool.
Officers were called to Gritten Square, on Hartlepool’s Central Estate, shortly after 9am yesterday.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained, and five people have been arrested and are currently helping police with their inquiries.
The identity of the dead man has not yet been released until all of his family have been informed. But local sources suggested it was a man in his mid-20s.
Police sealed off the house where the body was found and officers stood guard at the front door while forensic examinations were carried out inside the property.
Residents in the street looked on as police launched their investigation.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be identified, said: “The police turned up quite early on Sunday morning and it was pretty obvious something serious was going on judging by the amount of activity in and around the house.”
