CAMPAIGNERS from Hartlepool who joined 150,000 people in the capital to speak out against budget cuts by the Government described the rally “passionate and powerful”.
A 110-strong delegation from Hartlepool joined the thousands in London for a march involving workers and campaigners from across the UK, including members of UNISON in Hartlepool and other trade unions.
Hartlepool MP Iain Wright joined the delegates from the town at the event on Saturday.
Edwin Jeffries, joint branch secretary of UNISON Hartlepool, said: “It was an excellent march.
“It was vibrant, it was passionate and there was a lot of angry talking directed at the Government.
“But the problem is, will the Government listen?
“The Government’s policy is failing the people in the North-East, it’s having a direct impact on the most vulnerable people in society.”
