Pregnant woman hurt in Peterlee crash with alleged stolen motorbike

A PREGNANT motorist was injured in a serious smash involving what police believe to be a stolen motorbike.

The woman was driving a car in Burnhope Way, near to the junction with Beverley Way in Peterlee, when it was involved in a collision with a bike being ridden by a man and a pillion passenger.

The rider of the bike was taken to hospital in a critical condition and his passenger also sustained serious injuries.

The female driver also suffered injuries from the crash, which happened at around 5.30pm on Friday.

l EMERGENCY services were called after a car crashed into a lamppost.

The crash happened in Merlin Way, in the Bishop Cuthbert estate, Hartlepool, at around noon on Saturday.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital by ambulance. Firefighters from Stranton Station were called and cleared the scene after the smash.
