INVESTIGATIONS are continuing after a solicitor was found with fatal stab wounds.
Specialist searches are continuing along the river bank near Maiden Castle Sports Centre in Durham City after the body of Peter Maine, 56, who worked for Hall and Co LLP in Easington Colliery, was found nearby.
Inquiries are on-going and police continue to appeal for information to help them piece together the final movements of the married dad-of-two, from Wynyard, near Hartlepool.
He was found by a passing cyclist just before 8am on Sunday, September 1.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Chapman said: “We have traced or been contacted directly by around two dozen people, a mixture mainly of campers, cyclists, dog walkers and joggers.
“Their accounts are proving very useful as we try to establish exactly what happened to Peter in the 20 minutes from when he set out running to the time he was found.” Call the Durham Police incident room on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 with information.
