PROTESTERS caused traffic hold-ups for commuters earlier today.
The picket line was stationed outside of Sita – a recycling and resource management company – on Haverton Hill Road, in Billingham.
Police received reports around 6.45am that the protesters were beginning to block the road and traffic was backing up.
Officers attended the scene and traffic began to flow more easily around 7.25am when the picketers began to leave.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police did not know which organisation the protesters were from.
She said: “Some protesters were stationed at Sita around 6.45am.
“We had a call about 6.45am to say they were blocking the road and traffic was building up.
“At 7.25am though the traffic started to flow again as the picket line was starting to disperse.”
