TEN new jobs will be created when a nightclub is transformed into a high-class cocktail bar.
Time & Tide has been serving customers under the same name for 12 years in Avenue Road, Hartlepool.
But on March 12 it will become SKYY Lounge with cocktails being flamboyantly created by trained bar staff.
The change comes after owner Wynyard Leisure, which also runs Loons, Shades and Bar Paris in the town, joined forces with USA beverage firm SKYY Vodka
Tim Gilbert, from Wynyard Leisure, said: “This is an exciting partnership that will produce a high-end bar selling fantastic cocktails. There will be bottles flying and drinks pouring.
“I don’t think Hartlepool has ever had a bar like it, so it is something a bit different and special.
“We will have 10 new positions created and expert cocktail mixers will be coming in to show staff how to mix properly. There will be a big selection of drinks on offer.”
Time & Tide will have its last night on Saturday, February 26, before it closes for two weeks to undergo a complete renovation to become SKYY Lounge, which will be launched on March 12.
Mr Gilbert also stresses that the club will operate a strict Challenge 25 policy that will see anyone who looks 25 or younger being asked to prove their age.
Door staff will also be operating a “dress to impress” policy, which will see anyone who turns up not looking their best refused entry.
Mr Gilbert says the strict code will be in line with a series of operations and initiatives by Hartlepool Police on the back of its Respect Hartlepool campaign to make the town a safer place to live, work and socialise.
He added: “The police have been doing a lot of work to make sure Hartlepool is a safe environment.
“It has worked and the town centre is a great place to visit. We hope we can attract more people to the town centre who want to socialise in comfort, have a quiet drink and enjoy themselves safely.”
