CREATIVE art students are set to show off their latest creations to the public.
Manor College of Technology, in Owton Manor Lane, Hartlepool, is hosting its first annual art exhibition to showcase the efforts of their artistic pupils.
Art pupils from every year group will be involved in the three-day exhibition which was due to be launched tonight in front of an audience of invited guests.
The artwork will then be on display to the public tomorrow and on Wednesday between 6pm and 8pm.
The overall theme was Changes with each year group putting their own twist on it.
One year group opted for an Egyptian theme while another went for changing weather seasons and another masks, in order to represent the change in people’s identity.
In total, up to 50 pieces of work will be on display at the school.
It is the first time the department has held its own art exhibition and staff are looking to make it a regular event.
Jerry Carne, art and design subject leader, said: “We have not had one before as far as I know so we are all quite excited about it.
“We decided we wanted to give the art department a bigger profile and this was a good way of doing that, by showcasing the efforts of the pupils.
“The standard of work is very good and there have been some nice paintings.
“This shows what they have been up to instead of just keeping the work tucked away in the classroom.
“It is also a chance for people in the community to come in to the school and have a look at the artwork on display.”
Mr Carne added that the art department was looking to go from “strength to strength”.
